Target Audience for Pool?

The first thing that I would have to ask is what exactly are your teaching credentials? Is the content of the video going to be based on an established curriculum of some kind? I noticed that the very first and only examples you give of playing pool properly are the use of spin and position play. These are advanced topics when it comes to proper instruction regardless of how basic they may sound. What discussion will there be of proper stroke mechanics? Trying to teach someone to perform a draw shot is pointless if they don't understand how to have a consistent, repeatable stroke. I don't mean to be critical but I get the impression that your video will be based more on your personal opinions rather than on the reality of the game. If I'm way off base here, I apologize, but to say that anybody of any age knows what they are doing when it comes to pool is a stretch to say the least. I get students who have been playing pool for decades who come to class and they don't know half of what they think they know. So I ask you, as a teacher who regularly has to dispell myths and misinformation about pool, please have a solid understanding of the material before you try to instruct others. That being said, go for more of an adult audience. By adult, I mean late teens and above. Pool is a lifesport and can be played by just about anyone. The information should be presented the same to a young man or woman as to a senior citizen. Please don't take this the wrong way. I'm glad that you want to help people to enjoy this great game. Pool is mainly a "Bar Sport" and yes it is really popular among teenagers as well, but mostly older teens. I'd say 18-30 years, from what I've seen at a lot of pool halls around where I live. So yea, 12-18 is a good age to learn pool.

In my experience, most people do not seem to seek out instruction until later in life than the age group you are describing. Teenagers tend to only play recreationally with their friends or family in someone's basement, and never really seem to get a feel for what it takes to actually be "good" at the game until they get into a competitive environment. That usually comes when they're of age to play in bar leagues and pool hall tournaments when they're over 21. I mean, if you're just making a very basic video which tries to describe how to play to someone who has never touched a pool cue, or if you yourself are not a very advanced player, a young age group would be fine. But if you're trying to make a video that intends to turn recreational players into competitive players, you should probably gear it towards an older audience.
