  • Hey Everyone, I have been invited to play pool AKA billards. I have in NYC!! I have no idea how to play and I do want to go. He said that he’s willing to teach me but… I would like to have some basics on my hand. I have looked at videos but, I still don’t get it. So… can anyone give me some basics so I don’t look to bad!! Of course, I told him that I don’t know how to play!! He’s already aware of that!! I just don’t want to look to bad!!! What’s a cue, cue ball and everything else? How do I hold the cue? HELP!!! Oh by the way, I have to learn by this Saturday Dec. 15th!!! P.S. Guys would you mind teaching a woman how to play? Just wondering!

You said AKA pool league but did you mean APA pool league instead? Your friend is aware that you are a novice player and is willing to teach you how to play. He is also adding you to the roster as part of a larger strategy when playing against the other teams. You're going to lose some but don't be disheartened. You're going to meet a bunch of great people and have a lot of fun in the process. Keep an open mind and a positive attitude when you're playing and enjoy yourself.

I live in NYC, and will be glad to teach you if you pay the table-rent where we meet for the lesson, say on East 12th Street in the Village, and $50 per hour for me. If you want to come down to NJ friday night I can show you the basics. I'm just off the NE Corridor train. I was just in NYC yesterday taking my cousin sight seeing. if you had asked sooner I could have offered more choices, but given what it is.. the offer is there. And I've tought plenty of women how to play and play competetively. I won't be able to get you tourny ready in a day, I doubt anyone can, it's a question of comfort and muscle memory, but I can show you the basics, it will get you started after that it's all about practice. Once you get those down I can show you more advanced tecnique. I only ask you pay the table time for the lesson.
