Where do I find a list of professional rules of etiquette?

What's the differences between the rules of Basketball in Special Olympics and the rules in regular Olympics?

  • I know the Special Olympics are for those with mental retardation to participate but... What are the major differences between the rules in the Special Olympics and the rules in the regular Olympics for the sport Basketball? I'd appreciate it if you could list a few. ***I already have the site with the rules for the special olympics!!!*, so don't lead me there. I just can't find the differences between those rules and the regular Olympics rules. It would also help if you could refer me to the official Olympics site with the rules for basketball. Thanks!

  • Answer:

Olympic rules are just the same rules used by basketball's international federation (FIBA). For these rules go here: http://www.fiba.com/pages/eng/fc/tool/p/langid/1/langlc/en/searchfornews/1/searchforplayers/0/searchforteams/0/searchforphotos/0/searchstr/rules/searResu.html And click on "official basketball rules 2008"

For Special Olympics....especially for wheelchair basketball 1. A personal foul is usually called if you hit the person's arm holding the ball. 2. Usually, I think disqualification occurs on the 5th personal foul....same as college basketball. 3. Also, you lose possession of the ball (the team's) if you do not throw in within 5 seconds after the referee whistles for the ball to be in play. 4. I think there is also a shot clock system.....if the offense does not shoot within the shot-clock period (the clock going down to 00), the team loses posession of the ball. 5. Technical fouls are usually called for obscenties at officials or for rough play with intent to injure (for example, strongly pushing a player). 6. A player who purposely pushes an opponent and falls on his wheelchair is subject to a technical foul with an automatic ejection. I think that is some of the rules.
