    The Sports have to be recognised by the Olympic Movement. In order to promote the Olympic Movement, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) may recognise as International Sports Federations (IFs) international non-governmental organisations administering one or several sports at world level and encompassing organisations administering such sports at national level. There are currently 28 disciplines on the programme of the next Olympic Games. Durring the IOC Council meetings durring a non-olympic year they meet and discuss which sports are doing their part as being "Worthy" of the Olympic Ideals. In order to be recognised, these organisations must apply the Olympic Movement Anti-Doping Code and conduct effective out-of-competition tests in accordance with the established rules. The recognition of IFs newly recognised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) shall be provisional for a period of two years or any other period fixed by the IOC Executive Board. At the end of such period, the recognition shall automatically lapse in the absence of definitive confirmation given in writing by the IOC. I'm not sure, but one thing I do know is that the sport has to be "global" (as in the sport has to be popular in a lot of countries-which makes sports such as American Football ineligible). The reason for it is because that way one country won't have the upperhand in it while other countries can't even participate in it because they don't have qualified athletes...
