How to do a Back-Handspring at home?

  • Ok i know your not supposed to do them at home but im dying to learn one. I do take gymnastics lessons but they have not taught us yet and i want to learn one now. I have a soft mat and everything. I can do a Back-Walkover. Im just afraid of falling on my head, please help? any tips or advice?

Ok I've asked this question too and I think I have answered it myself! First thing first...do some handstands to strengthen your shoulders and it will also help because there is a handstand in the middle of a front and back handspring. Next do a few bridges to remind yourself to arch your back when you jump BACK NOT UP!!!!!!!!!! When you are in the sitting position make sure it feels like your about to fall over any second and before you do jump BACK looking at your hands and arching your back. When your hands hit the ground you should be in a handstand position, snap your feet down by "shrugging" your shoulders. PLEASE do this skill on soft carpet or a mattress!
