Why don't they show taekwondo in the Olympics?

  • ok what i dont get is why they only show countries like russia, japan, uk, and china compete. i mean they sow a few more countries but the main countries they show competing are russia, china, usa and uk. my question is WHY DONT THEY SHOW DIFFERENT COUNTRIES LIKE ROMANIA OR IRAN OR idk something that not everybody would expect to see, something different?! i am romanian and i personally think that this olympics year isnt good, they show a romanian girl on the balance beam which sucked and made romania look like idiots. the only OK sport was the women's swimming where POTEC WON. and can you believe that the trainers that trained NADIA! the first woman to recieve a 10.0 can you believe they are training america, a country that is already very good, instead of making other countries stronger cometitors. my question is WHY DONT THEY SHOW DIFFERENT COUNTRIES LIKE ROMANIA OR IRAN OR idk something that not everybody would expect to see *or at least put all of the competitors in the games and at least but it on the internet on nbc.com if not on tv. :''(( who else agrees??? **NO RUDE COMMENTS>IM JUST GIVING MY OPINION!***

    I enjoy watching the best competitors. that being said, those 4 countries are consistently providing the best level of competition. I did however watch a mexican channel for a few hours and they showed a lot of the mexican, and spanish and south american countries competing. They are also going to show who usually is in contention for medals.( which happen to be russia, USA, china and uk and australia. ) Also, these countries have the most athletes there. Places like i dont know, NIGER have fewer than 10 athletes, and since the games take place over 2 weeks or so, it'd be hard to find which events those countries would be competing.

You are watching American TV, so that's what they show. It is the producers' choice. And if they want to make a country look bad, they will only show the worst competitors. Personally, I would like to see the Romanian gymnasts, because Romania seems to have some of the prettiest women in the world.

Romania is not expected to dominate in medals, that's why. It's a simple reason. It makes no sense from a marketing/business standpoint to show Romania in place of China or USA or Russia,et al. edit: Nothing against Romania, my favourite country in Europe, but you're not exactly the biggest buyers of Nike, Coca-Cola, et al in this Olympics.

Yeahh ii totslly agree !! OMG ii was thinking that actually when i was watching the gymnastics. And also i think the general camera shots have been bad . For example when uk were doiin their floor they were showing us the faces of the brazil team !! Its quite annoying=) x

I completely agree. They do that because in order to get and keep viewers they need to show the countries that most of their viewers seem to care about. That might be the wrong wording but I'm sure you know what I mean. They show China and US because there is a rivalry between it and UK and russia are of a lot of interest to some people here in the US. If you were to look at some of the new stations from other countries you might find that they cover their country more. They only show those select countries because they don't have enough time to cover it all or enough people cover every country thoroughly, whether fair or not. So therefore they need to cover the countries that they feel most of their viewers want to watch compete and are the most likely to medal. But I completely agree still.

they show the countries that are major competitors in that sport. if you watched the men's gymnastics i watched china and japan qualify. i watched russia in the women's gymnastics. the reason they didn't show romania is because the team was doing bad and no offense but no one wants to watch a team that isn't expected to medal. in the olympics, i want to watch the best of the best compete. you'll see a lot more countries compete in swimming because of all the trials, i've seen australia, zimbabwe, canada, france, etc.

it's because you're watching an American station which will only show people who are really good, or have something to do with the USA. If you wanted to watch other contenders, you'd have to watch different TV stations or the internet.

its because your in england or usa or whatever and thats who the majority of the country want to see!! and they usually also show the teams that win
