How long to get a roundoff back handspring?

Learning a standing back handspring?

  • I have been taking tumbling classes off and on this summer (probably about 10, 1 hour classes). If I were to take private lessons would I learn faster? I would like to get it in two months, by the beginning of November if possible. I have a trampoline, so any tips for getting it on there. Once I get it how long will it take to get it on the ground or on a tiffin mat? I know it is different for everyone. Once I get a standing back handspring will I be able to do my roundoff back handspring? Do you know any tricks on learning a standing back handspring? Thanks soooo much! :)

  • Answer:

Not really. When you learn in a group, you can observb others. You will be able to get a ROBHS after you get your standin backhandspring, as long as you have a good rebound from your round off. A rebound is where you jump a little. You would jump backward from your round off rebound, into your back handspring. To learn your standing backhandspring, bend your knees, and leap backwards, kind of as though you're about to do a back walkover. If you don't have that, you need that first. Back handspring is a level 4 skill, but you can learn it relatively quickly. Good luck!
