When do the swimming world championships start?

Is this the Olympics or the World Swimming Championships?

  • I'm currently watching Ch 7's coverage of the Beijing Olympics hoping they can actually show the most anticipated international basketball game of the Olympics between USA vs Greece, but all Ch 7 can do is show swimming, swimming and more swimming!!! This is ridiculous! They've got to be shot! They have absolutely no idea how to present sports! This is probably getting a little repetitive in light of the other previous comments. But I just hope that with enough complaints, that something actually gets done and Ch 7 takes full responsibility with many heads to roll! Preferably those up top!!!!!!! I hope they lose the AFL too!!!

    You don't know how much I completely agree with you. You guys are the lucky ones too because us service members who live overseas in countries like Germany and Italy have to put up with AFN(Armed Forces Network), which is really just one channel split into 8 with a movie channel on the side. I'm so sick of swimming and this Michael Phelps nonsense. On AFN they cut right into the middle of Boxing, Basketball, and Soccer matches just to talk about this guys highlights. I'm not taking anything from him, he earned his medals but enough already we get the point. Seriously, I think any true-blooded American would agree, yes Michael Phelps holds the world record for Gold Medals.....in swimming....

i agree, im sick of this goo-goo-gaa-gaa over phelps! the guy doesnt even have an ian thorpe to contend with! im sick of swimming everywhere! swimming should be banned from being televised unless its the finals!

basketball is on a different channel swimming, gymnastics, volleyball cycling and water polo are on this channel for now

It's always the way, the blue riband events are swimming and track & field athletics - as there is something pure about the sporting achievement in these races between individuals with no outside help (which precludes cycling, etc). It goes with the Olympic ethos of faster, stronger, higher - and I'm sure the most watched event around the world will be the men's 100m athletics. In my humble opinion, Olympic basketball is virtually unwatchable since professionals were allowed in - and is very much a minority sport not a global one.

I agree. Swimming is getting a little boring as every night they broadcast the heats..it will be over eventually i wished they swam the finals at night though i enjoy watching them live... too bad for all us students and those who have jobs. We're stuck watching reruns.
