Which were the greatest royal dictatorships?

Should only dictatorships be allowed to host the Olympics?

  • China spent billions of dollars on infrastructure and $300 million alone for just the opening ceremony. I thought it was a good show. The problem is, in a democracy there are wimps that will say $300 million is too much for just a 4 hr party. They will protest and say it's their tax money and they don't want it to go towards the olympics. They will complain about pollution, traffic problems, terrorism fears, etc. In a dictatorship, they can use as much of the people's money as they want with zero problems at all. If there are any protestors, they simply get shot in the face and the games go on. Isn't that great? Plus, they get to use slave labor to build all these fancy stadiums, which gets stuff done in a much quicker amount of time. We all love a good show, especially for the olympics. Shouldn't we only allow dictatorships to handle the olympics? I think North Korea should host them next. Nobody throws a bigger and more spectacular party than Kim Jong-Il.

  • Answer:

No, but at least it makes the opening ceremony performances tighter and more disciplined which is good.

nah dont worry Britains got them next And nothing inspires the British like the risk of being outdone by another country. Its that ex world ruler mentality Trains will still be **** though Edit oh yeah another point The british government spent billions on the millenium dome a few years ago . Everyone went and had a look deceided it was **** and it shut down. Democracies can waste the tax payers money with the best of them.

Jerry Jerry Jerry!!!

Absolutely! The free world simply can't pull off that level of choreography.

Ha ha ha - I was joking when watching the opening ceremony (and seeing the girls that had to clap and dance for the 2 hours that it took for the athletes to come out!!!!!!) that you have to oppress people to get a performance like that - the Irish would say 'I'm not doing that!!' :) EDIT - To answer your question Graham Norton is an Irish TV Presenter on British TV

totally

dude

China has CRUSHED any countries dreams of overstagging the Opening ceremony. No other country dictatorships or democratic societies will EVER match the intensity and the heart pounding moments of Beijing Olympics. NO ONE!

Wilson!!!!!

well... every nation deserves to host the games. geopolitical issues should be set aside and not affiliate with the games!

I think it's kind of progressive of them to overlook a countries choice of government (even if I don't agree with their government). It signifies that whole one world thing. I love England but London is going to have the hardest time beating China (land of fireworks). Have you seen London's logo for the Olympics? Graham Norton said it best, "it's sh-t". It really is terrible. Anime characters aren't my cup of tea but it's better than outlines of orange rocks or whatever they came up with for the London games.
