Nope, there real gold, silver and bronze although they do have some other metals mixed in it otherwise medals like the gold ones would be too soft to handle. Iv actually felt a silver medal and to me, there was no trace of plastic to be felt or seen and seemed to be pretty legitamitly silver.

Absolutely not! How ridiculous... In fact, these medals are probably the most expensive to produce in the history of games, because of the jade! Quality jade can be very very pricey. And they have the same amount of gold and silver as any other Olympic medals because the IOC has standards for these things, so don't even go there. China has gone out of its way to design beautiful and unique medals, and you have the audacity to ask such a question!
