What is harder winter or spring track?

So im thinking about going out for track next year. I swim everyday on a team for 2 hours a day but im not in running shape. I never run and when i do i can do about a mile on average in ten min. should i do track? what should i be able to run before i join track? should i do winter or spring track?

if you run a 10 minute mile that probably isnt you race.. but that doesnt mean there isnt a race in track that would be good for you. people in my grade (8th) that run 52 second 400s, run the mile in 9 minutes. (52 seconds for my age is really good in the 400 and 9 minutes is really bad in the mile) so you might want to try every distance and see how you do. do spring track instead of winter. Like you said swimming shape is not the same as being in running shape but swimming is a good way to cross train for running so when you do track keep on swimming!
