What is the best way to get cheap theatre tickets for London?

How can I assure that I can get Team USA tickets at the 2012 London Olympics?

• I'm trying to plan a trip to the 2012 Olympics in London, and the probationary ticket application phase is ending in about 48 hours. I'd like to buy tickets, but with many games, I can't guarantee that I'm going to get to see Team USA play. Obviously the official schedule hasn't been set, but there has to be a way, either through scalping or a ticket exchange process, that people get to the games or events that they want to see. So if anybody has been to the Olympics (Winter or Summer, it shouldn't matter given the question), can you shed some light on how you got to your country's events? Did you buy the tickets in advance and get lucky? Did you do a ticket exchange with people who were in the same situation? Did you go to the games without tickets and buy from a reseller? Any extra information would be greatly appreciated.
