Did the Chinese fake the girls' ages for the Olympics?

Do you think the IOC will investigate the Chinese girls' ages?

  • I was just wondering how many of you think the IOC will actually go into a real investigation about the chinese gymnasts girls ages? And if they do,what will happen to the girls and the medals? Will the girls be banned from competing,or will they be able to compete when they are of age?

  • Answer:

Right now they're saying that so far there is no evidence that they are underaged. That could be interpretted in two ways. 1) They want to get the hell out of communist territory before they start stripping medals, OR 2) they have no intention of doing any serious investigation. This is not difficult to investigate. The existence of old documents showing conflicts in He's birthday is sufficient. This shows that the Chinese authorities were either dishonest then or dishonest now. And China does have a track record of lying about athletes' ages. If this olympics was not going to be in China, sanctions would have already been in place banning China from gymnastics for a period of time. Let's hope that they wait till they get out of China to really launch a serious investigation. Anyone who is honest knows that those girls are underage.

IOC has already said there's no proof and that this will be put to rest. Why are you whiny Americans so concerned with China?

They said they are investigating it now. Whether anything comes of it or not is another story. If they do find out the girls are underage, they will lose their team as well as individual medals for it. As for the whiny American comment, it was a CHINESE newspaper that pointed out the one girl was only 13 last year. I don't know about your math skills, but here in America, you can't go from 13 to 16 in the span of one year.

IOC: Underage gymnasts Olympic chiefs on Friday (Aug.22nd.) claimed that there was still no proof that anyone cheated over the ages of several members of China's women gymnasts.

Read this: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26337759/ Keyword: "old passport". They have competed or trained abroad before, and it would have other countries visas in them. Don't think that can be faked. But I am sure the naysayers will say that it's been planned since years ago, that's why they faked the old passport too. And my answer to that would be, who would've known years ago that which girls will have the most skill in 2008 during qualification and competition?

Yes, but it will do know good China had good people working on the forged paper work!

nothing is going to come from the investigation. Short of carbon dating or taking a bone out if the girl to examine how are you going to prove someone's age? Only way age can be proven is documents, and if the chinese government is issuing official documents with fake birthdates what other proof could you use to disprove it.

Mike

still no proof, they will make an announcement on friday
