What is the best way to get cheap theatre tickets for London?

Best way to get London Olympics tickets?

  • I'm a bit confused by the whole process of purchasing Olympics tickets. From what I understand individual tickets have already been sold and can only be purchased through the resale program? But by the looks of that there is only a certain window of time which has already lapsed but they still have some tickets.. which really confuses me. Specifically I'm looking for either Tennis or Gymnastics- can be in a package but I want a little more flexibility than what I am seeing online. Are there other places to purchase besides the CoSport site (purchasing from the US)? Will ticketmaster be selling? Will there be another release date? Thank you!

  • Answer:

As you say, CoSport is a legitimate source, and does have individual tickets, but NOT for popular sports like Gymnastics and Tennis, or indeed, Athletics or Cycling. They are not selling you the US allocation (as that is not allowed), but they are selling you the unsold allocations of Austria, Bulgaria, Norway and Sweden, the EU countries which licensed them to sell their allocations within the EU. At the moment, the best value Gymnastics tickets available and on sale are by Thomas Cook Packages, and include men's and women's artistic gymnastic's prelims (at £698 for two tickets to women's prelims or £838 for two tickets to men's prelims): http://www.thomascooklondon2012.com/2-events-1-night-novotel-london-heathrow/12132 http://www.thomascooklondon2012.com/2-events-2-nights-comfort-inn-vauxhall/3569 (Hotels and some other sport are thrown in as well, for the price). If you balk at these ridiculous prices (as I do), then your best bet is the April LOCOG sales window, as LOCOG have tickets for every sport in every price bracket that they held back from sale last year (about 1.3million plus whatever tickets they buy back from the public as well). However, if you are after Gymnastics and Tennis (which are among the most popular tickets), then you really will need to have a LOCOG account from last year that FAILED to be allocated ANY tickets at all, since LOCOG have promised that those who did NOT get tickets last year will have FIRST BITE of the cherry this April, on a first come first served basis. Good luck! :)

There are still ways, although getting rather slim now. It appears that any tickets that have been sent back by the public will be going back on resale soon it's just a case of keeping your ears open!
