in the uk a hours group will cost you bout £25 but a hours private will be £40. every riding school i know provides helmets though most poeple, but beginners, bring their own. you dont have to turn up to your first lesson in jodphurs, boots etc. if you dont want to commit to buying everything before you know you like. most people take their first lessons in old clothes or sweatpants and any shoes with a slight heel. have fun.

Most farms that teach lessons will provide you with safe tack to ride in and will have a hard hat to fit you. I don't require my students to buy there own unless they ride in group lessons in which there may not be enough helments to go around since i only have a few in each size. I do recommend the troxels for my students which can be purchased at most tack stores. Or the off brand known as Intrernational can be bought from Tractor Supply in the horse section.
