My back hurts after horseback riding?

Horseback riding with back condition?

  • I love animals and recently went to the Smokey Mountains and rode a horse through the mountains. I loved it so much that now I want to take lessons. The thing is is that I have Scoliosis, and my mom thinks that horseback riding will cause me too much pain. Does anyone know about this? Is it safe/okay for me to do horseback riding lessons? I really want to do them!! Thanks for your help in advance! <3

    I am going to say right off the bat that I do not know anything about Scoliosis, but what I would do is give your doctor's office a call and talk to some of the nurses and see what they think. You don't want to do anything that could end up being a problem, but it may turn out to not do any harm. I can understand why your mom is concerned, because you do a lot of bouncing around when you are riding, especially when you are riding western style. Maybe english style would be better for you, since you post when you go past a walk and are not hitting the saddle so hard. But before you do anything, just talk to a nurse and get their opinion.
