My back hurts after horseback riding?

My back hurts after my first time horseback riding?

  • Today was my first time horse back riding I walked the horse and my trainer had me start trotting. Well when I was done a little while later my back started hurting. I took Tylenol but it didn't help. I was running up the stairs and I got a sharp pain in my back and it kinda felt like it was hard to breathe. Is this normal?

  • Answer:

well when i used to ride horses after riding, if i forgot to stretch before i'd get a sore back, mainly because i don't have the greatest back in the world..but next time try doing some back stretches before hand and it could help. your muscles probably just weren't used to it.

sounds like a facet joint injury from possibly incorrect posture causing it to pinch a nerve from an inflamed disc. Take anti-inflamatorys and see a Chiropractor.

You might have shifted a rib at some point. This can cause pain in the chest and back, and often it hurts to lean forward and lay on your back. You might have also compressed a disk from the jarring of the horse, or the muscles in your back could just be really sore from the strain of keeping you upright.
