What should I do to get into the Olympics for snowboarding?

How do i get into the equestrian Olympics?

  • How do I get into the equestrian Olympics? I am going to be turning 16 in a week, and it would be a dream come true to go be in the Olympics for show jumping. I Have been riding for about 12 years now and have had lots of experience in jumping. I have been on some show jumping events, but not many i know that you need a lot of experience so you need to go to a lot of shows so you can get sponsors. I have recently got a new horse he is 14.2 hands and is cob at the moment i am teaching him to jump as he is still a good age 7. With a lot of practise you can get him to jump as high as any horse but he needs to be strong and healthy. What i was wondering is if i could get into the Olympics with a cob (he is not fully cob he has lots of breeds in him he is a mixture but mainly cob) Or would i have to buy a a proper show jumping horse ?

  • Answer:

It's not a question of breed. It's a question of ability--the horse's and yours. It is unlikely that any particular horse is going to be an olympic-caliber jumper. At international level competitions, jump heights begin at 1.5m (4 ft 11 in) and can be several feet wide. If you get to be that good, you will probably need to buy, lease or borrow a top-quality horse. However, there is no reason to worry about that now. Keep working with your cob, enjoy him, and both of you progress as far as you can. If/when the time comes that your abilities outstrip his, then you can worry about obtaining a better horse.

I not sure whether would you consider The Hanoverian horse,The Holsteiner horse or The Andalusian horse as one of your choice to excel in the equestrian Olympics? For your info: The Hannoverian breeding industry has existed for 400 years. Even today this horse excel in equestrian disciplines of jumping and driving. The Holsteiner horse was developed in northern Germany. Their reputation was such that only in 1797 approx. 100.000 horses were exported ! This horse has a good character, is fast and strong. The Andalusian horse was called "the royal horse of Europe". This is friendly, docile, strongly build, brave (used for bull fighting) and of catlike agility.
