How to get into racing?

Barrel racing and how to get my parents to let me!?

• So Ive been around horses my whole life!My dad was a racehorse trainer.And we raise and breed quarter horses.Ive started to break the racehorses.And i have showed a quarter horse in Western and english and the horse show stuff!!I got bored of the horse showing.And I love fast horses.Don't tell me i don't know how hard barrel racing is.I know its hard.Ive tried it.I do roping with my friends.My Parent's aren't really into the whole rodeo stuff.I don't know how to ask about doing barrels..What should i say to them.I really wanna do this.Cause i love doing cutting a roping and i really like breakaway and barrel racing!!I just need to ask them to buy me a horse then my friends well take me to the rodeos!But what should i say to them!?What did you say to get your parents to let you.!?I need advice!And i found the perfect horse to get just i need to talk to my parents my friends dad thinks the horse would be perfect!!??Any tips on how to get them talked into it!??

  No offense, but right now you sound kind of spoiled. It sounds like your parents have given you a lot of opportunities that most people don't ever get. Do you have a horse of your own already? Are you willing to give up that horse to follow this new dream? You need to come up with a plan before you ask them. You want to act like an adult instead of a whiney child. First, get a job to start paying for the horse, etc. It will make them realize that you are willing to work hard for this. Next, find a barrel trainer to work with (they can also make sure you get a good horse). When you ask your parents, tell them about the job, if you are willing to give up the horse you have now, and the trainer. You might want to ask for barrel lessons before you jump right into asking for a horse. That way, you can be certain that this is what you really want to do and you won't waste money if you decide you don't want to.
