How do I convince my parents to let me go to horse riding lessons?

  • I've had a bit of experience of horse riding since I'm a horse addict, but I want to take that experience further as I want to be an expert when I'm older. I want to do shows and everything. But the problem is my parents disagree. Its £20 per lesson each week. And I said I'll give up my spend, but its no use. We're not a poor family my dad works at the BBC, so we're average with money but, my parents still say no. My mum used to have a horse when she was little so I don't understand why I'm not an expert by now. I live right around the corner from the stables, I'd do anything I've told them that, but they still say no. I love horses and they know it, so I just need some advice on how to convince my parents to let me ride there. I know its a lot of money since I already do gymnastics and netball, each week but I don't mind quiting! I just can't let my dream settle, so PLEASE help me if you can. Thank you!

I know how you feel! It took me years to persuade my parents to let me have riding lessons. I know this is said over and over again... but it is VERY expensive! (It is cheaper in your country than in mine... I live in South Africa) but it is still expensive. Offer to pay half and maybe give up one of your other sports. Often parents are reluctant for their kids to start riding because it is an extremely dangerous sport and I'm sure your mom is very aware of this. I suggest asking if you can ride once or twice a month at first and offer to pay a percentage of the lessons. Maybe your parents will see how it is making you so happy and let you carry on. Also give up other privileges that cost money e.g. Magazines, expensive gadgets and other luxuries. I hope this helps! :)

you are being bratty. This is a lot of money when you add it up, because of course then there are the clothes and other things that go along with riding. the parents are paying for other lessons and team expenses already, so when you get a job, make your own money, and show you are responsible and respectful of the money, you can hire any lessons you want. Meanwhile, quit whining and get busy.
