Is it not normal to begin horseback riding lessons when you are 13?
-
I've been wanting to do horseback riding for a long long time. And now I am 13, and my parents are finally considering it, and i believe i am going to start. Is this a late age to start horseback riding?

Answer:
That's a year younger than the age I was when I started riding after begging my parents for years. I was a few years older than other kids in my classes at first, but I moved up to higher classes more quickly than them since I was so into it and really bonded with all the horses. If it's something you want to do, you should definitely go for it, riding is about connecting with the horses, and has nothing to do with age.

Dude, i started horseback riding when I was 9..I was at a boarding school and there were 14 Thoroughbred horses there. It turned out that the best rider in school was 12 years old. Its never too late to start horse-riding. Go for it dude and keep up with it. You are gonna do great. :-D Good Luck.

It is perfectly normal. People start at all ages, there are some who are lucky and get to start practically from birth, and then there are others who pick it up later in life. My mom started taking riding lessons when she was 45! What is most important is riding at a good school that will enable you to learn lots and constantly improve. I started riding when I was young however was not at a good school and did not learn very much until I started riding somewhere else much later. Best of luck!

No, that's not too late. I was 13 when I started but now I'm 15, showing and looking into buying my first horse. It's never too late to start. There's a lady at my barn who started riding at age 35! She didn't buy her first horse til she was 40...that just goes to show you're never too old to chase your dreams :)

I started when I was 12, so no. I honestly think it's better to start when you're a little bit older, because you know that this is a sport that you actually want to do, and you're not just in it for the pretty ponies like you would be when you were 6.

It is never to late to start anything. I started riding when I was about eight. And anyway, there's a first time for everything right?

Why would it be too late? Even though a lot of girls probably started at age 6 (or younger), it doesn't mean everyone has to. I'm sure you will love it!

you can start to learn at any time, I started in my late teens
