Ever since I got my horses, I know what I want to do for my career has to be with horses. I love my horse SO much. lol, we are growing up together. He is still a colt, and I am 13, and I am training him by my self because my dad is never home. Dad says I am doing so well with him, so he is going to get 2 more once I break Prince, (my 17m gelding), and train a team. I don't want to be a vet; i want to get to know the horses. Please Help! I don't reallyl know what kind of jobs are out there for me to do. And what do I have to do now to get ready for those jobs??? HELP!

Answer:
OMG!!! There are MAnY horse related jobs. If you are considering a health related job, than try being a farrier, a horse masseuse( yes, there is such a thing), vet, or any other specialized equine doctor. Not so into health? Start up a business!!! You can sell hay, feed, nutrients, and tack supplies. That's always fun! But maybe you want something a little more athletic. Put out an ad for a horse trainer. This would require some lessons of course but keep practicing and you could become the best!!! Or you could even open your own barn and be a riding instructor for beginning students. So, like I said: The possibilities are ENDLESS!!!!! Hope this helped!!! Good Luck!!!

Well, trainer comes to mind pretty fast. Where is your horse stabled? If you stable him away from your home, why don't you start talking with the people who work at the stable about the different sorts of jobs people have with horses. I'm not saying you should work at a stable - I'm saying you should talk with people who spend a lot of their time around horses. People know other people, and you might get introduced to some really interesting people who can help you and advise you. You should also go to your local library and ask the reference librarian to help you find sources of information about jobs related to horses. Reference librarians know how to look for things in ways that you and I usually don't - and they do it for free! Good luck!

I had a roommate for a couple of years who went to school to be an equine massage therapist. She is now a registered therapist and has a large clientele, making excellent money and her reputation is growing fast! She gets to do what she loves working with horses in the outdoors while making a great living. What more could a person want? She tried to go to school to be a vet, but found it was just more than she could handle and wasn't interested in that aspect. The school is here in Canada and there were quite a few Americans in attendance, since it is one of the best programs in North America. It is called the D'Arcy Lane Institute of Massage Therapy. Check it out. http://www.darcylane.com/
