Answer:
Races for Thoroughbreds, Standardbreds, Quarter horses and Arabians offer money or a "purse." Here's info on Thoroughbred racing: Every race has certain conditions that must be met. For instance, a maiden race is for horses that have never won a race. Claiming races are for horses that are for sale at a set price. Allowance races are for horses that aren't ready for stakes competition or that meet certain criteria, such as having won only a maiden or claiming race. A state-bred race is only for horses born in that state. A listed or "overnight" Stakes race is an ungraded race, one step up from allowance runners. A graded stakes race has three classes, Grade 1 (the best horses) Grade 2, and Grade 3. Each track publishes a Condition Book for trainers. The trainers go through the books carefully to note which races suit their horses best not only in terms of conditions and class, but also distance and surface. Many stakes races, especially graded stakes, have a nomination fee and entry fee. The fees vary depending on the class of the race and when the horse is nominated. the owner of the horse must pay money to nominate the horse to the race, and an entry fee if they plan to race the horse in that race. Here is an article on how to enter a horse into a race. It goes into detail on race conditions, class, etc.: http://www.toba.org/owner-education/entering-races.aspx

Firstly, you can't just enter any horse in a race. They need to be pedigree Thoroughobreds with racing already in their blood. They need months and months of training with a proper trainer and they need to have all the right tack e.g race saddle, race bridle. You also need to be 16 with a jockey license to race a horse. You'll need to find a jockey that will ride the horse and they won't want to ride a non-Thoroughobred horse that has no training. They ride to win, not to be last. It sounds like you're very young so you certainly won't be able to ride the horse in the race and it seems very very unlikely that you have a pedigree Thoroughobred with months of training behind it. If I'm wrong and you do then there willl should be races in your area that the horse can be entered in.
