What type of nitro snowboard do i have?

Is my snowboard rental good enough?

  • Hi, I got a used seasonal rental snowboard and I am a bit unsure if the equipment is good. I want to know if you think that the set up is good for my purpose so I know if I should ask them if they have another type of that part(that would be better of course). You know what I mean. I plan to use the snowboard for freeride, just going down the mountain the regular way and the most important part, I want to go to the terrain park this year. I have some pics of the board which are here http://community.webshots.com/album/554622601obalqc . The boots are Nitro, the Deck has a G in the middle, and the bindings are sims. The board and bindings together weigh ten pounds. When put on flat and a slight bit of pressure is applied the middle of the bottom of the board touches the ground. You may be able to see that on the bottom of the board(the orange pictures)the bottom isn't shiny but rather looks like a bit of white shades over the graphics. Is this normal for a waxed board that

I agree with the last person. At 144 cm that board is a bit on the short side and if you weigh over 120lbs, you may find the board a little too unstable at higher speeds. Regardless it should be fine for learning on. I didn't see too much damage from the pictures. I would take it to a shop to get the edges tuned and the base waxed and you should be good to go. As for getting a new board. My suggestion is to keep on eye out for any demo days on your mountain this season. That way you can try a couple of different boards and get a feel for what works for you. Also regardless of what board you wind up with I find that a good pair of boots is just as important. Good boots are comfortable and help keep you going when the day gets long. New boots will have fresh liners that will adapt to the shape of your foot after the first few wearings whereas the liners in rental boots are likely to be totally flattened after so much wear. Something to keep in mind. Good luck!

I think the set up you have is probably fine for you judging by your question. Looking at the picture, the only thing I would question is the size. The board says its a 144, which I think is small, but thats only for me. I dont know how tall you are, so a 144 might be perfect for you. Stick with that board for the season....get a little better...play around in the park a little and then buy a new board for next season...My vote is a Gnu or Lib Tech....they are the best....Have fun this winter!!
