How to buy a demo a snowboard?

How safe is it to buy a demo snowboard?

  • A ski rental shop in my area sells demo Burton Feelgoods. The price is right, but is it worth all the wear from being a demo?

    It is just as safe as buying any other used snowboard. If there are some minor scratches then you will be fine. Make sure the edges are still in good condition and the board doens't have any deep cuts. $250 is a decent price for a used snowboard. If the board is in good condition still then I would buy it for that price. I don't where where the guy who says demos should sell for 1/5 of their original price, but in my experience that's incorrect. You will usually find demos for sale between $100-300 depending on the type of board, it's condition, and where you buy it from.

look at the base of the snowboard, see if it has taken any core shots, ie past the (black) petex and into the strength material of the board. Other than that everything is mostly superficial and your board is fine... demos should go for around 1/5 of suggested retail price...

Yeah it's worth it. As long as there isn't a lot of damage. Your getting a great snowboard, from the best company, for a low price, so I don't see why you wouldn't.

As long as the board's base is not damaged to the core, it's fine. Of course, the price should reasonable. (Note: scratches on the base is fine.) If you can still have access to the slopes or indoor ski dome, ask if you can try it out first on a rental basis. If you feel comfortable with it, then buy it.
