What is curling and how did it become a sports?

It was invented in the early 1500's in Scotland. The "floor" they are sweeping on is specially prepared ice made from ionized water and pebbled to give it a concrete-like feeling. It takes a lot of skill to slide a 45 lb granite stone to curl around other stones in order to land in a specific spot about 125 feet away. The sweeping influences how the stone will move down the ice.

I'd rather watch grass die than watch a game of curling. Honestly, it shouldn't be considered a sport, nor should it be played.
