How much should I pay for a ski /snowboard jacket?
-
I need a waterproof jacket for hitting the slopes. Should I spend the money to get a nice jacket at a sporting goods store? I paid $50 for a Body Glove jacket on sale. Do I need a jacket like that or can I get something cheaper?

Answer:
A lot of stores are having sales right now. I just got a Columbia waterproof shell for 50 bucks. The main thing is, you wanna keep the wind and wet out. Especially the wind! A lot of times its very easy to just layer under a good shell. You can pay more for a "real" gore-tex jacket, but given the fairly short life cycle of most types of gore-tex (2-3 years), you may just want to go with something that is waterproof in the 50-100 dollar range. Oh yeah, and make sure you get one with a hood. :)
