Which are the worst British kings and queens?

My ancestors were kings and queens?

  • Hi, I have been doing research into my family's ancestry and I have discovered that my family has about 400-500 years of kings and queens as ancestors. They are my great (times many) grandfathers and grandmothers so I am directly descended. These kings and queens are from 8 different royal houses. These houses include England, Scotland, France, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and Italy. My 34th great grandfather was Charlemagne(I know many people are descended from him). Other kings and queens include King Ethelred II of England, King Bjorn III of Sweden Eriksson, King Gorm III of Denmark Hardeknudsson, King Heinrich "Henry I" "The Fowler" of the Germans, King Malcolm II of Scotland, and King Pepin I of Italy Carolingian (Charlemagne's son). The Queens are Gerberga, Abbess of Notre Dame, Queen of France Saxony; Queen Poppa, Viking Queen of Normadie Berenguer; Queen Ingeberg Thrandsdotter of Sweden, and many of the wives of the kings named above. If these prove to be accurate and legitimate what can I do about it? Thanks you for reading and taking the time to answer

  • Answer:

Many people have royal ancestry, but this does not make them royal. You can do nothing but claim royal ancestry. If you were to be titled royalty, you would have known since birth of any titles.Titles are passed down only through legitimate male issue.Your father, your grandfather, your great-grandfather,and so so would have to be princes or kings in order for you to bear a royal title.Your father, your grandfather, and so on would have to be titled peers in order for you to bear even an honorific for a peer's children.

That just makes you one of the millions of people who can trace their ancestry to royalty. It doesn't mean anything. If you were ACTUAL royalty, you would know it. What can you do about it? Brag about it. It might get you a date once in a while. And...you might be wrong, anyway...but if you have found that many different royals in your background, you've probably found at least one or two that are genuine.

We are all descended from royalty. It's been estimated that, today, every single person of British ancestry in the UK is a descendant of King Edward III, which means they are descendants of a lot of other royals as well -- all of Edward's royal ancestors. It doesn't mean anything. Merely being descended from royals doesn't make YOU royal. Even some of the UK Queen's close relatives are not royal, so you can imagine how distant from being royal you -- and the rest of us -- are. By the way, I'm suspicious of any genealogist who claims to trace someone's ancestry back to Charlemagne or even somewhat more recently. To be really sure of the bloodlines, you need to spend a lot of time examining very old archival documents with expertise in such subjects as medieval paleography, which requires a lot of study and training.

So were mine. There is nothing you can do about it Michael, you are not going to change history. Edit........The problem occurs when your line passes through the female side of the family. It becomes diluted, loses it's strength and most of it's meaning.

Dr, Sir Ichiban.

If they prove to be accurate and legitimate.. then you have an accurate and legitimate family history of being descended from Kings and Queens... welcome to the club.

Very likely nothing at all. Once you get your proof together you could contact those houses but, really, don't expect much.
