Diana, Princess of Wales v's the establishment?

  • I'm not really asking a question, I just think it is high time someone cleared few things up about the late Diana, Princess of Wales. I really hate the way Dianaists insult the Royal family for things that she did herself and are so misinformed about the Queen having apparently 'stolen her title'. All of this is in the words of Judge Judy ''Bolony!!!!!!!!!''. (1) Diana, Princess of Wales is not now, nor has she ever been 'Princess Diana'. She was only ever HRH The Princess of Wales during her marriage. On the day her divorce became absolute, Diana assumed the STYLE not the title Diana, Princess of Wales. She could have used Lady Diana, Princess of Wales as the daughter of an Earl but chose not to do so. Diana, Princess of Wales is a title which denotes that she is Diana, [the former] Princess of Wales and if she remarried she would lose even that style. If she married a commoner she would become Mrs X. If she married a peer she would become Her Grace The Duchess of X. (2) The Queen did not steal her title. As she was no longer the wife of the heir to the throne and she was not a Princess in her own right, she had no title other than Lady after her divorce. The only thing that the Queen did was clarify in letters patent in 1996 that any divorced Royal was no longer a member of the Royal family and was not entitled to be known as HRH (It would be pretty ludicrous if Diana was HRH Mrs Hasnat Khan or HRH Mrs Dodi Al Fayed and her grandchild was just Mr Philips). (3) The same rule applied to fergie and she went from being HRH The Duchess of York etc to Sarah, Duchess of York. (4) Neither Diana nor Fergie are allowed to be addressed as ''Your Royal Highness'' or ''Ma'am'' by protocol but the Palace have insisted that you can call them what you like (like I can call myself Susan if I wanted to - it's pretty obvious what they were driving at here). They have no place in the order of precedence whether they are the mother of Royal children or not. (5) Likewise Camilla is not Princess Camilla just like Diana was not Princess Diana. Camilla has chosen her husbands susidiary and is HRH The Duchess of Cornwall. However she IS the Princess of Wales by virtue of her marriage to the heir to the throne. Anyone who thinks otherwise seriously needs to do more research on the matter. Camilla's right to the title Princess of Wales was confirmed not only by Buckingham Palace but by the Lord Chancellor himself. Like Diana had been during her marriage Camilla is legally. HRH The Princess Charles, Princess of Wales, Duchess of Cornwall, Duchess of Rothesay, Countess of Chester, Countess of Carrick, Baroness of Renfrew, Princess of Scotland and Lady of the Isle but is known officially in the court circular as HRH The Duchess of Cornwall and is known as HRH The Duchess of Rothesay in Scotland (as is customary for the wife of the heir to throne of the Scots). (6) All the Camilla haters who claim that she is and I quote ''a pox ridden whore of a slut who likes a horse'' are firstly very ignorant of the Duchess's kind nature and patronage of various charities before her marriage to the Duke. Secondly conveniently forget that Diana was herself ''the other woman'' when she ruined the Will and Julia Carling marriage causing Julia Carling tremendous heartache and eventual application for a divorce. IT DOES NOT MATTER that Charles cheated on her first as that was no excuse for a woman who knows what it feels like to have ''three in [her] marriage'' to go ahead and do it to someone else. Camilla was the ''other woman'' in Diana's marriage just as Diana was the ''other woman'' in Julia Carling's marriage.

The royal tradition in Britain is that women take on the style of their husband, and The Queen was just keeping with the tradition.
