Has anyone been to the Royal Haciendas?

Can anyone provide a link to info about lead in vintage royal albert chinaware plates cups bowls?

  • I live in Australia and have been purchasing vintage china ware. Some of my purchases are from royal albert and can date back to 1920's - 1960's. My large concern is whether any of this vintage chinaware from royal albert/royal doulton contains leaded paints or glazes? I imagine some patterns and early productions may contain leaded paint. I would appreciate any information or web links.

  • Answer:

The category is royalty, not antiques. We really aren't experts in that...but you can try replacements.com. They carry old, retired china and some antiques.

A fine question dear leew. I have gathered together a few links which may be of help. Apparently, there are test kits available to help you determine whether you have a problem. I'll wager you could also ring or e-mail the customer service team below and ask them for information. ==================== Types of dishware that may pose lead risks include: Terra cotta pottery from Latin America, especially more rustic items with a transparent glaze; Highly decorated Asian dishware; Dishware with food contact surfaces containing bright colored decorations; Glazed pieces with rough, raised or worn decorations, indicating that the decoration is on top of the glaze; Glaze that is corroded, or any item coated with a dusty or chalky residue after washing; Antique dishware or dishware made before 1970; Crystal glassware; while posing little risk with occasional use, leaded crystal glassware should not be used by children or pregnant women, and food or liquids should never be stored in lead crystal. ==================== Consumer Enquiries For any enquiries, please contact our Customer Service team by email, mail, phone or fax: Waterford Wedgwood Royal Doulton (WWRD) Australia Pty Limited 100 Holbeche Road, Arndell Park NSW 2148 Email: [email protected] Phone: 1300 852 022 or (02) 8665 8200 Fax: (02) 9831 1631 ====================
