It means that when you next go down to the pub, you have dibs at the bragging rights that night and someone may even buy a small beer and a packet of crisps. On the other hand, they may demand a beer from you.

Since queen Elizabeth Tudor didn't leave any descendants, you should press your cousin for something more specific. A good question to ask is are you descended from Henry VII (Henry tudor) or one of his ancestors. The six patrilineal ancestors of Henry VII are: Tudur Hen, Lord of Pemmynydd, d. 1311 Goronwy ap Tudur, d. 1331 Tudur Fychan, Lord of Pemmynydd, d. 1352 Maredudd ap Tudur, d. 1406 Owen Tudor, 1400–1461 Edmund Tudor, 1st Earl of Richmond, 1430–1456 Henry VII of England, 1457–1509 The fact that you are descendant of a Tudor puts you in a relatively small group of people (probably less than a million). Other than human interest it won't buy you anything of value. By contrast, Edward I Longshanks of England (died 1307) a few years before the first Tudor may have left several hundred million descendants. Almost everyone of any English ancestry in the world is a descendant of Edward I. Edward I was portrayed brilliantly in Mel Gibson's Braveheart. There are a much smaller group of people who are descendants of Tudors.

It means A) somebody in your family is hiding money from you or B) your second cousin is full of it.

It means that you have a claim to the throne of the United Kingdom dear girl! Now, one must tread very carefully as one could easily become involved in an 'accident' if one were to go public on this matter. Suffice to say that one should avoid any Paris tunnels at all costs! I would be jolly well happy to help in securing for you the throne of the United Kingdom which has been undoubtedly purloined from your family. All one asks for in return is to be given the Dukedom of Westminster. I shall be in touch, dear girl!

Congratulations, perhaps it means your somewhere in a LONG list of line of succession. but your probably so distantly related that it wouldn't make any difference, except maybe bragging rights of saying hey I have "royal" blood in me.

It means very little. Actually, it's very difficult to believe that Queen Elizabeth I Tudor could possibly be in your family tree (without Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn being there, too) as she had no children. so, probably not the same person. Do you have birth and death dates on this person? Do they match up? I'd be pretty suspicious of the genealogist, if I were you!

Elizabeth Tudor might mean queen elizabeth the first. But I shouldn't think it means much if you are related to her, there must be hundreds of thousands of people who are related to her in one way or another

Well, it means very little if you have a royal in your family history if the royal was as long ago as Elizabeth Tudor.... if it did MEAN something as far as your having inheritance rights, you would already know. It is fun, however, to discover interesting ancestors.....but it is very rarely meaningful in any real way to one's current circumstance.

It is no biggie; happens to a lot of us. There is a story in my ex's family that she is descended from Charles I (yes, the wrong side of the blanket!). I've yet to prove this doing her genealogy, but it is possible. When my then 11 year old daughter and I visited Victoria BC, we went to the wax museum, which has a lifesize statue of Charles. I pointed him out, and she was pretty disgusted! She had always liked the idea of being a "princess" (what little girl doesn't!), but she was not impressed by Charles appearance, that's for sure!

It means you have a royal in your family history. That's all. That Elizabeth Tudor certainly wasn't Queen Elizabeth I, as she had no children. Maybe she was from another branch of the family and therefore not royal.
