Who were the last Mexican royals?

Why are Royals given so much recognition over other celebrities that have actually earned their position?

  • (My last question got really badly misinterpreted which is why I wanted to repost it as a new question and clarify it better. Sorry this is long but I couldn't shorten it to make it clear) The common man/woman has to work SO hard to EARN their fame based on talent, work so hard to earn their recognition. But Royals become famous overnight. Non Royal celebrities with little/no talent are constantly criticised as 'fame hungry talentless wannabes'. Non Royal celebrities not only have to prove their personality to earn adoration, THEY ALSO HAVE TO PROVE THEIR TALENT to earn their recognition. You constantly criticise people, like X factor and Big Brother contestants, who are famous with no talent or haven’t worked hard to earn it. So what ‘talent’ do these Royals have? What 'hard work' did they do to earn their position? Most of them would be complete nobodies without their ancestors and titles. Is being born or marrying into a certain family a 'talent'? Someone has already said this in another question- but I also think that if being a Royal is as hard as some make it out to be- it should be a position you earn rather than get given to you cuz of who your parent or spouse is. Princess Diana became THE most famous woman in the world in 1981. What had she done that year? Apart from got married? (Her humanitarian work came later) There were plenty of other female personalities that had done a lot more than her to earn their recognition, but because she "married" future king of this country (which came down to her family and contacts), she overtook them in one night. Kate Middleton hasn’t even done anything yet- she’s already a fashion icon. I’m sure there are plenty of other female celebrities who’ve worked a lot harder than her to earn their position today. There are celebrities out there who've gone through hell and back to be in the position they are in today. So why do we give "overnight-fame-through-marriage/birth" Royals more recognition than them? I just want your thoughts. You don't need to tell me to go complain here or there. I'm not going anywhere- just wanted a discussion. And as far as 'jealousy' goes- I'm trying to make a point about something I don't feel is fair. I'm not one of those non royal celebrities, and I don't think this is fair on them. Thanks for reading

Celebrities as you refer to them are generally short lived. The Royals have been in existence for many hundreds of years, they are not a flash in the pan.

You quite obviously know nothing about the royal family, the work it does, or the billions of profit it makes for the country. Why don't you do some research and come back with a question based on some kind of knowledge. I doubt you would have the balls or the stamina to complete a single week of the queens duties.

Really? They EARNED their reputation? Lindsay Lohan: has EARNED her reputation by going to adult clubs when she was 18, getting drunk underage, and doing drugs, and lying about it. Britney Spears: has EARNED her reputation by getting married too young, and divorced, in 24 hours (or so) and by having two children, and being incapable of caring for them, and for running around without underpants on, and SHOWING the world! Paris Hilton: has EARNED her reputation by...being Paris Hilton...WHAT has she done? She is an heiress! That is ALL! She's pretty...and looks good in high fashion clothing...but that isn't exactly an accomplishment, especially as she can't actually model...she is famous for having a little dog in her purse. THAT is earning celebrity? I could go on. Seriously? We love to talk about them...whether we like them or not, whether they are OUR royal family or not, we are fascinated by them, simply because they are there. At least they (generally) strive to be good role models. Of course, everyone slips up a little bit, but as a GROUP, the British Royal Family represent high morals and good breeding.

i'd say you were a republican - someone who doesn't believe in having a "royal" family on the basis that it's unfair to us commoners to have to swear allegiance to someone just because they were born into a position of power. the public actually make these people as famous as they are, because we buy the newspapers/magazines & watch the tv programmes about them. dunno why, i'm not really interested in what they're doing, with whom or where in the world they are on holiday this week. unfortunately, celebrity is completely unrelated to talent, hard work etc

Does it really matter fame is not attribute I find particularly Appealing. I care who will be my Head of State and what duties they fulfil I dont really care for the media inflated "personal aide to the Royal Family."

All that you say could also be said about First Lady's It is the public that generates the interest And why is the British Royals singled out the UK is not the only country with a monarch as head of state.

It's simple; people are interested in their doings, so people watch the news and the TV for see what is going on.

Why is the US Sarah Pazlin? Why Paris Hilton? Why Kardashians? I could go on.

Tradition is the answer, we respect the descendants of the super powerful families who ruled us in historical times. Is Russia any better now that the great family of the Tsars was slaughtered ? and all they now have is a bare chested low class "tough guy". Overnight fame ? what are you talking about? The Royals fame is 1000s of years old
