Who are some Lithuanian Queens?

Queens who killed their husbands?

  • Are their any queens who killed their husbands? Specifically from Ireland, England, Germany, France, The Netherlands, Denmark, Scotland, Sweden and France?

  • Answer:

    - The only English (or European) Monarch to have allegedly been murdered on the orders of his wife was Edward II. His wife, Isabella of France, backed by popular support of nobility, deposed Edward and made him abdicate in favour of their young son, Edward III. On 3 April 1327, Edward II was imprisoned at Berkeley Castle where, it was generally believed, he was murdered by an agent of Isabella on 11 October 1327. - Mary, Queen of Scots, allegedly had a part in the murder of her second husband, Henry Stuart, Lord Darnley. Their union was unhappy and in February 1567, there was a huge explosion at their house, and Darnley was found dead, apparently strangled, in the garden. There is no other (recorded) Queen Consort who had anything to do with husband's death.

Queen Isabella, wife of Edward II, was suspected of being implicated in the murder of her husband. And Mary, Queen of Scots, was likewise suspected of being involved in the murder of her husband, Darnley. I can't think of any other British queens who were thought to have murdered (or conspired to murder) their husbands. There were lots of rumours about Catherine di Medici, the wife of King Henry II of France, having poisoned people, but nobody as far as I know ever accused her of having anything to do with the death of her husband, he was killed accidentaly while jousting, and it is hard to see how she could have had anything to do with that.

Officially none. But... Isabella of France's suitor, Roger Mortimer, killed her husband, Edward II of England... Mary I of Scotland, is said to had part in the murder of her second husband, Lord Dunley... Gregory Orlof, Catherine the Great's lover, was one of the murderers of her husband, Peter III. Even though she really despised Peter III, is said that she did't want his blood on her hands, she preferred to have him live loosely imprisoned for the rest of his days... What do all these women had else in common? Their children from these husbands either were indifferent to them or truly despised them: Isabella's son, Edward III, made sure Mortimer was executed and his mother exiled, the moment he was in power. Mary's son, James I & VI, was separated from his mother at age 1 and he didn't even try to stop her execution 20 years later... Catherine II's son, Paul of Russia, really hated hs mother and his mother really hated him. When she finally died, he destroyed every piece of paper in her office, since he was afraid that one of those papers would be her signed removal of his from the line of succession... POETIC JUSTICE?

I think Victoria weakened Albert.
