Where Is My State Tax Refund?

Turbo Tax >State or local tax refund question?

  • I am filling out a turbo tax tax return and one question asks me : 1. Did you receive a state or local tax refund in 2009? * yes, I received a state or local tax refund. * No, I didn't receive a state or local tax refund. Background info: I am from Florida, and I did receive my refund money in march of 2009 for the 2008 work year, but my question is whether that refund was federal, state or local..or am I confusing things? It only asks if it was a state or local tax refund...Is my answer yes or no? Thanks so much to anyone reading this! :)

  • Answer:

Florida does not have a state income tax. So unless you paid a local tax (eg, city tax and I thought nearly all of these are in the Northeastern aprt of the US). The question is NOT about your federal/irs refund. PUT NO.

If you did not itemize your deductions it makes no difference. Just answer no if that is the case.

You should have either paid or received a refund on federal and state taxes. Not everyone pays local taxes. I live in Utah and I only pay state and federal taxes.
