When is the deadline for paying the income tax in France?

How much income tax do Americans pay?

• I'm wondering how much income tax Americans pay. Also, how much of it goes for health care? France pays 20% in income tax and 10% VAT, but gets fantastic health care. We don't get great health care, and it's too expensive. Wouldn't it make sense for America to stop paying health insurance companies and pay that money in the form of income tax for better health care? Wouldn't it be less if we did that? Thanks!

  Does France get fantastic health care? I hadn't heard. Predictions and observations: The Democrats have a few problems. Their usual "tax the rich" won't work here, and the people who have the best health care now (probably better even than France) are unions, which will resist any change for a new "health care tax." Their "public option" will either not work, or will put existing health care out of business, removing competition and increasing overall costs. (which would mean increased taxes.) If the new laws unfairly target doctors (by the doctor's impression) many of them are able to retire, increasing the problem. The problems aren't impossible, but the likelihood that whatever comes out of congress will be less quality and higher price than what is now available is high. The public health care systems across the world also relies on at least one "free enterprise" system to introduce new drugs and procedures. If there isn't a profit incentive for this to happen, it won't.
