    Forms P46 are supplied to employers, tax office shouldn't give you one. Employer should start completing form, then ask you to sign it to say it is your only or main job, and tick the relevant boxes. When did you start job? If before 6th April last, you will need to send form P60 to tax office. Tax office will need to know your employment history (even if only full-time eduication from 6th April to when you started job, whichever year. If you started after 6th April this year, you will then be put on cumulative code. Employer gets a copy of that, and makes refund with wages. Employer will give you name and address of tax office, It may not be your local one, depends where employer is registered.
