How old do you have to be to work at Kroger in Texas?

Do I need to pay CA states taxes if I am Texas resident and work part time in CA?

  • My company relocate me in Texas and agree for me to work 20% of my time in Texas and the rest in CA. Will it be a problem for the CA State ? (I mean do I have to pay CA state tax if I partially work in CA with being a Texas resident). Is there a rule that I need to work a certain time in Texas vs CA.

  • Answer:

The rule is very simple: If you work in CA, then you must pay CA taxes. You can be a resident of the moon, but if you work in CA, then you must pay CA tax. A business trip to CA for a few days a year is one thing, but anything approaching 50% is crossing the line. Also, if you work in CA 80% of the time, you might not be able to convince CA that you are a TX resident.

CA is a very money hungry state. They get to charge you tax for work performed there. Sorry. (Same for NY, NJ, NC, etc)
