The bill that passed the house but went down in the senate a few weeks ago did not add any additional weeks of benefits over what the existing tiers provided, just extended the timeframe when they were available instead of having them expire.

No. The only thing that it does is to change the last date on which unexhausted benefits can be used. It does not allow benefits to be collected after all existing benefits have been exhausted.
