How much does forever 21 shipping cost?

Duty Taxes in Canada??? $21 on a $35 item?

  • bought something from the UK for $35.31 (incl. shipping) canadian, I just got notice from Canada Post that its here and I owe $21.57 in taxes. How is that possible on something that only $35.31?! I've bought items from overseas way more expensive than that and wasnt charged, so why am I being charged almost the cost of the item to begin with? Is there anything I can do?

    the gentleman above is correct. the fees are just sick. you have the number of the item. contact canada customs. they can and will re asses you duty charges. you should be duty free under 50 from the u k to canada. very little duty if any. this goes back to 1947. brokerage fees are very illegal. gangster style robbery

Probably not a lot that you can do. Most of the charge is probably the brokerage fee for collecting the duties and taxes. Even if a brokerage fee isn't involved, duties are what they are. Some goods attract little or no duty whilst others may attract many times the value of the goods. Duties of several hundred percent are not unheard of.
