Do I pay Sales Tax % based on the location I do business?
-
I am trying to file my first quarterly Sales Tax return online. I own a computer services business where I go to clients houses and fix their computer problems. Do I have to add each different location I go to and have each client pay separate sales tax? or do I just charge my city/county sales tax percentage? I can't seem to find the answer to this online. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Answer:
Where are you? In my state you don't pay sales tax on labor. So it would probably be taxes on parts at the rate where your store is.

Like the other poster asked, what state are you in? Also, how do you bill: do you bill lump-sum (ie one price for the service call) or line item (ie $100 for the service and $10 for a part)? In most states, you will be required to bill any applicable sales tax based on where you performed the service (ie the city/county that your customer is located in.
