I moved since I filled my taxes. How do I contact to do a change of address for my stimulus rebate check?
-
I used a refund anticipation loan for my tax return, so I found out that I will get a check mailed. But I have moved since I filled my taxes. How do I do a change of address so I can get my rebate check mailed to the right address.

Answer:
Contact the IRS ASAP!! Call 1-800-829-1040, keep hitting 0 untill the automation says ... Please hold while we transfer your call. When the agent comes on the line, tell them that you have moved since filing your return and want to give the correct address for the stimulus check to be mailed to. They will ask you several questions to verify your identity, then they will ask for the correct mailing address so it can be changed. I believe there is still enough time so you're good to go. Hope this helps. "IF YOU MAIL THE CHANGE OF ADDRESS FORM INSTEAD OF CALLING, YOU COULD END UP MISSING THE MAILING OF YOUR REBATE AND POSSIBLY HAVE ANOTHER 4 WEEKS OR SO TO WAIT FOR IT. SO DON'T WAIT."

Send form 8822 to the IRS to change your address with them.

You need to do a change of address with the post office and the IRS. You will need to fill out Form 8822 which is the change of address form and send it to the IRS. Next, call the IRS to ask them where to send it or there might be information on the Form 8822 as to where you should send it, depending on the state you live in.

Call them 1-800-829-1040 and have it changed. I just did this last week. Also do a change of address with the post office. They will forward your check from the IRS to your new address, just in case the IRS doesnt switch it quick enough.

IT'S MY MONEY AND I WANT IT NOW!!!
Call. There are some occasions when the address can be done over the phone. The IRS does get the USPS updates, but can't always match them to you if your name isn't particularly unique.
