In which European country do Neurosurgeon make the most money after taxes?

• Right now I'm really looking into the Netherlands, Switzerland, Sweden, Denmark, and Norway. I know that income tax in the Netherlands is like 52% if you make doctor like money. I also know that doctors in Sweden, Denmark, and Norway make nothing and taxes there are also astronomical, however I also know that the quality of life there is absolutely amazing. Is it worth all of the money in taxes, and furthermore, how much do the other people there make on average. If it also helps, I'm a girl from the United States, and I know that the Swiss strongly disliked the States when Mr. "Crusades Against Evil" was in power and I haven't gotten a definitive yes or no answer on weather or not they've moved on from that. Also, as far as language goes, and more than willing to learn a new one.

  Without having checked it, I would say Switzerland. They have high salaries and comparatively low taxes, but there are many factors that need to be taking into consideration. I have lived in both Switzerland and Denmark. Food, going out to eat, etc. are generally more expensive in Switzerland than in Denmark. Houses are extremely expensive compared to Denmark. In Switzerland you have to have an obligatory health insurance and these are quite costly, depending on your coverage. In Denmark the health insurance is 8% of your salary. Cars on the other hand are much cheaper in Switzerland than in Denmark. In my experience, I had more money in my bank account and between my hands in Switzerland than I did in Denmark, and more freedom to decide what I wanted to use that money for, but my quality of life is higher in Denmark. Both are good countries to live in, though. It all depends on what your preferences are, and I doubt you will be particularly discriminated against for being an American in any of the countries you mention. PS. While the neurosurgeon salaries in Sweden, Denmark and Norway are lower than in the U.S., they are hardly nothing. ;)
