Can non-profit organizations pay income tax?

Do I have to pay income tax for the online making money sites......?

  • Hi, I work on this site called http://www.slicethepie.com/Default.aspx and when I reach to 3 stars and above I get real money to review songs.I just sign up about a month ago and it took allot of work to reach above 2 stars. My goal is to reach 5 stars, get pay 0.1 GBP per review and do 200 reviews per day.200 reviews per day will give me over 10,000 CAD in a year.So I wanted to know if i'll get in trouble if I don't report my money to the canada income tax ?.The slicemypie site doesn't have my social insurance number. They only have sign up registration like normal sites ask for and they have my paypall email. The site is legit I already made around 30$ something. The site also didn't mention anything about income tax. I always put 0$ on my income tax form because I don't work.I'm very confuse with this income tax stuff. If i have to claim income tax ,how much money are they going to take from me ? ;(. I also work for 2 weeks in my first and only job[elder floks home] about 3 years ago and I got fired for my schedule.I made almost 300$ and i never mention it to the income tax because I didn't work for a long time.I just read somewhere that the income tax people can audit[I don't really know what that means] people who didn't mention that they get payed on their form.I always put 0$.Are they going to come after me soon for that?

  • Answer:

If you are a Canadian resident, you are required to report and pay tax on your worldwide income. The income you mentioned in your question would fall into the category of self employment income. You can choose to take your chances and not report the income and there is a possibility that the tax department will never find out but you should know that in doing so you are committing criminal tax evasion, for which there are serious penalties, possibly including imprisonment. As long as your annual income is below $10,000 or so you should not have to pay any income tax due to the basic personal exemption. If your annual income is above $3,500 you will have to make Canada Pension Plan contributions.
