How to import "orange" in ipython notebook?

Duty for Notebook Import into Canada?

  • I need to know how much will customs charge for a $1700 notebook imported fromt he US in duty and tax, rough estimate in % or amount please. And if I ship by UPS will they add additional fees for duty?

    According to A&A brokerage firm there is No Duty on Computers or computer related products. You do have to pay GST and PST. I added their web page. UPS will add additional fees. Canada Post charges a $5 dollar fee to collect taxes and Duty when applicable. added: I beleive you need a NAFTA certificate because it is worth over $1600. NAFTA=North America Free Trade Agreement certificate. Under the NAFTA agreement between Canada and the U.S. if the computer was manufactured in North America you are exempt from duty. The certificate needs to be filled by the seller before shipment. Look up the A&A brokerage firm web site I added. They answered all of my questions on importing products!

I buy items from the states once in awhile. I learned the hard way, if your item is shipped by upc or other couriers you pay high brokerage fees, a few times the fee was half or near the full value of my item, so your purchase could end up costing almost twice what you paid. When I had items shipped by usps the us post office I never once paid the brokerage fees. not sure why but it is important to only use the us post office imop
