How To Pay Online?

How much tax and duties will I have to pay for goods ordered online from Canada.?

  • I live in the United Kingdom and have just ordered online, two skirts from a Canadian company. The total cost of the order is $83.50. canadian dollars approx £53.00. english pounds (this includes £8. postage and packing). Can someone in the know please tell me how much in tax and duties will I have to pay on top of my order amount, and how do I pay this amount, do I pay the postman, or do I go to the Post Office and pay them. I am sure there are a lot of E-Bayers out there who will know the answer. Thank you.

  • Answer:

You need to ask this question in a UK forum. Canada isn't charging you duty or tax -- the UK is.

Same as all other goods entering the EU ... In order to 'protect' our own businesses, all EU countries impose about 5% Import Duty, then add VAT on top (UK, 17.5%) & finally there will be an £8 to £10 'handling charge' ..
