How come i am paying customs charges?

  • i lie in toronto, and b4 i use to buy from sites such as ebay without any customs charges. last month i bought a 130 camera and got charged 20$ customs charge when the parcel man delivered my package. i thought this was a fluke, but today i receieved my speakers i bought ebay for 140 with ship, and i was slapped with a 35$ customs fee. WHY am i paying these customs fee if i already paid for shipping. the guy is from the us. also i got a $200 amp and $100 speakers coming in the next couple days from the states(different sellers) am i gunna have to pay more custom fees?

  • Answer:

shipping is strictly the transportation. Products coming from outside of your country are subject to customs tarriffs, fees, taxes whatever you want to call them. If you don't want to pay them only buy from candian sellers. If you refuse to pay one of 2 things happen, 1) customs siezes the product as abandoned and later auction it off, 2) it goes back to the seller. then they may be charged taxes and shipping back to them. More then likely customs will take it. And no you can't get your money back if you decide to refuse shipment due to non-payment of taxes.

Because you have to pay import taxes for the stuff from different countries. That's a law. it is also depends on how the seller register the package.
