How to win items on eBay?

How can I calculate duty on items from China, USA, etc.?

  • I've started to get into Ebay, but am trying to figure out how I can calculate the costs of duties and taxes, when I win items from other countries. What I would like to know is if there is a website that will allow me to calculate the duties and taxes, based on the country it came from, the objects value, etc. I have looked online and can't find a site like this. I don't want to buy something, and have to pay a fortune in duty, etc. Thanks!

  • Answer:

Duty is based on the country of origin, type of product and value. You can look up duty rates here: http://betterdollar.com. Tax payable is regular sales tax in your province. You will also likely have to pay an administrative fee to the shipper ($10 to $25).

Not sure, different country with different custom rules, and when you buy something, what shipping method you choose? And if express like DHL,UPS, EMS,Fedex...sometimes you need to pay a little sometimes you do not need to pay.It depends on the value you decalre on the invoice.
