Tax-free shopping in USA?
-
I am a Canadian citizen resident in the UK. I am going on holiday to Canada and plan on crossing the border by car to do some shopping in the USA. I will return to Canada and cross the border by car before my flight to the UK. Any ideas if the tax-free amount I can purchase is different than for Canadian citizens resident in Canada. Any guidance would be helpful - links to websites with this info would also be welcome. I am already aware of the details set out here (http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/publications/pub/bsf5056-eng.html#s2x9) for Canadian citizens.

Answer:
Are you talking about DUTY free? Your shopping is not SALES tax free unless you shop in a state that doesn't have a sales tax.
