How much do i get from centerlink youth allowance?

I live away from parents, get youth allowance, want to work. Will centrelink cut the payments?

  • I am 23 years old. I live away from parents since i dont get along with them. I am a full time uni student. So centrelink is paying me roughly $240 a week youth allowance. I got a job offer related to my degree. But part time basis. For 3 days I will get $300 (before tax). Which is $15600 a year. What i want to know is, will centrelink cut off the youth allowance? or will i still get the money from centrelink?

    I'm in a similar situation. Your youth allowance is scaled off your fortnightly income. I earn $540 a fortnight and receive youth allowance payments of about $40. So, if you don't lose all of your payment it's definitely going to decrease. You may have accrued working credits that will offset your wages for a small amount of time. Best thing to do would be to ask centrelink next time you report your earnings.

Hey I'm in the same position. They will make your payments less depending on how much you earn. I think if you earn over $500 a fortnight you don't get any payments unless you still have stuff in your income bank. The amount of money you get from centrelink is **** compared to how much you can earn in a fortnight. You could probably try and get rent assistance if you're living away from home which will increase the amount you receive by $100. I would also suggest trying to get a healthcare card because they are awesome for getting discounts at doctors and pharmacy. Also, you can get cheaper transport if you use public transport. Otherwise if you don't understand anything I'm saying you can always ring centrelink (I hate going into that place lol) on 13 24 90.
