How would I be able to study in Australia?

Is my work related to my study? Am I able to claim my study allowances in my tax return? In australia.?

  • I'm doing a degree. I work in the science field and doing a science degree. Does anyone know if I am able to claim my study allowances such as FEE-HELP, accomodation when going away for practicals, airfares, textbooks, stationary etc. If my work is related to my degree and I can go higher up in my job. But by doing this degree I can also change my career also If I choose to later on. So It can go both ways. It is related to my job and I can go up levels within my work, but it can also broaden my career with something else. does anyone know if I am still able to claim as being related to my job? Thanks

  • Answer:

If there is a direct connection between the study and your work then you can claim all expenses (except HECS) that relate to your study. So if you pay fees(not HECS) despite what another said you can claim these.

Other answers

You can claim textbooks, accommodation costs for compulsory trips but not any fees unless its a full fee paying course (i.e. not a HECS course). If you are getting any assistance from your work, then you cant claim.
